Construction has officially commenced to mark the start of the highly anticipated Edward Millen redevelopment, which will see the historic site revitalised into a vibrant, inclusive and sustainable hub for the entire community.

Zaneta Mascarenhas Federal Member for Swan in Western Australia, Hon. Hannah Beazley Minister for Local Government and Youth, Town of Victoria Park Mayor Karen Vernon, and Tim Mack, Managing Partner of Blackoak Capital Ventures all turned the first sod on site today.

The landmark project is made possible by a unique partnership between the Australian Government, the Town of Victoria Park, and the private sector. Selected for their expertise and experience developing heritage buildings, Blackoak Capital Ventures are leading the redevelopment process to transform the site into a unique community hub.

The revitalised precinct will provide a range of facilities catering for a mix of uses. The Rotunda building will house a café, bakery and museum space, while the adjacent Mildred Creak building will feature a bar, bistro, and microbrewery.

Community-focused highlights include a childcare centre, a petting zoo, produce gardens and market spaces, plus extensive landscaping to create a variety of alfresco areas, and active play spaces.
